DHCP is a protocol used to dynamically assign IP addresses and other networking parameters to devices on a network. It allows a device to request an IP address from a central server, known as a DHCP server, which then allocates a valid IP address for the device's use during its connection time. This process eliminates the need for manual IP configuration, simplifying network setup and management.
