A MAC address is a unique identifier assigned to a network interface controller (NIC), such as an Ethernet card or Wi-Fi adapter, on a computer or other device. It's used to identify and track the device within a network, typically consisting of six pairs of hexadecimal digits separated by colons or dashes. MAC addresses are usually fixed and permanent for each device, unlike IP addresses which can be dynamically assigned.
