A stateful firewall is a type of firewall that keeps track of the conversation between two devices and allows incoming traffic only if it matches an existing connection. This means that stateful firewalls remember the state of each connection (e.g., TCP handshake) and permit subsequent packets based on that context. Stateful firewalls provide more granular control over network traffic than traditional firewalls.
